Using Technology to Reduce Energy Costs



I've been looking at Whole-House energy monitors and "The Energy Detective" (TED) seems to be the winner. It supports multiple electrical sub-panels (I have 2 since I added onto the house) and it connects to your PC to allow logging.

I'm a firm believer that when you make something easier to measure you can alter behaviors. TED looks like a perfect way to know when your energy use is "out of bounds". I plan to buy one soon...

While this will take some time out of your day, it is an insightful piece on why Lessig, a noted teacher and writer on copywrites and the Internet, supports Barak Obama's campaign.
